Volunteers Need for Summer Tabling in Yellowstone
ORGANIZATION: SAVE THE YELLOWSTONE GRIZZLY
Please visit the new page to apply.
Spend a summer in wild Yellowstone! Save the Yellowstone Grizzly (STYG) is seeking volunteers to table in Yellowstone National Park. Spend a summer in America's first national park educating the public on the plight of the grizzly bear. With 4.4 million visitors to the park from around the world, you will be playing an important role on behalf of the grizzly. Tabling dates are June, July, and August. Roughly, Memorial Day to Labor Day. Volunteers will table (four hours a day) five days a week with two days off. You’ll have time to explore Yellowstone and all that the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem has to offer: hiking, fishing, swimming, wildlife viewing, and soaking in hot springs.
Volunteers are expected to camp or be set up for "van life". You’ll need a reliable vehicle to travel from the campsite to the tabling sites. STYG will pay for gas and make arrangements for camping.
Volunteers will be educated on the vision, mission, and goals of STYG. We will also update you on the current status and needs of the grizzly bear in the lower 48 states.
Volunteers will be speaking to visitors from around the world and will be the face of the organization. We expect volunteers to conduct themselves in a polite and professional manner at all times.
We look forward to hearing from you! Please send a cover letter and resume to griz@savetheyellowstonegrizzly.org Learn more about Save the Yellowstone Grizzly at: www.savetheyellowstonegrizzly.org/

Mission Statement
Save the Yellowstone Grizzly fights for the safety and welfare of all grizzlies south of Canada. Our goal is to establish a large-scale grizzly bear ecosystem recovery zone with appropriate linkages, ensuring the long-term viability of bears in face of the imminent effects of climate change.
Description
STYG has undertaken three interrelated projects to make our world safer for bears and other wildlife:
1) Films: We has produced two films, which we use in our roadshow and also show in broader venues.
a. "The Beast of Our Time: Climate Change & Grizzly Bears" explores the relationship between grizzlies and climate change. Narrated by Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges and scored by Bill Payne of Little Feat.
b. "The Orphans of Tom Miner Basin" - Brad Orsted narrates his own three-year journey with these sister grizzlies, perhaps the most viewed of all grizzlies north of Yellowstone park. These twins were executed in traps by Montana game agents in the fall of 2018, with no consideration of relocation or second chances. The orphans were the best ambassadors for good human-bear relationships Paradise Valley has ever seen.
2) The roadshow: A traveling program of advocacy and education rolled up in entertainment.
3) The underpass project: We have chosen a route to get grizzlies and other wildlife across I-90, linking Yellowstone’s animals with those of the Glacier National Park ecosystem. This is the ultimate expression of corridor work and involves biological surveys and contacts with residents to minimize human-grizzly conflicts.
