Kamp Kaleidoscope:

July 2 nd-9 th, 2022 @Collin County YMCA, in Anna, TX

(Applicants must be at least 18 years old.)

Kamp Kaleidoscope takes place at the beautiful and fully accessible Collin County Adventure Camp (YMCA). The campgrounds are located at 1180 West Houston St. in Anna, TX. Anna is located about 45 miles northeast of Dallas. Kamp Kaleidoscope offers activities geared specifically for older teens, ages 15 to 19, with epilepsy. It combines the outdoors and the experiences of camp life with camaraderie and team building.

We are looking for Volunteers with energy, Enthusiasm, and initiative. Volunteers should be willing to help campers with all aspects of their week and be a great role model for the campers. first time volunteers will complete the online application through a link that will be sent to you in an email once you have expressed interest in being a volunteer. Once an application is submitted, the applicant will receive a confirmation email stating that their application has been submitted along with next steps in the application process. Anyone new to camp will receive an email or invitation with available dates and time slots to interview. Once you have scheduled your interview date with the Director, a confirmation email will be sent to you with additional information. After all paperwork, interview, and references and background checks are processed, you will be notified by email from the Camp Director if you have been selected as a volunteer. Watch for emails from sthomas@eftx.org requesting more information, references, etc. If anything is missing from your application this could delay acceptance. If you haven’t heard back about your status, please feel free to contact us. The number of volunteers is determined by the size of the camp; therefore, spaces are limited, and there is no guarantee that new volunteers will be placed. The campers that will attend Camp Spike N Wave and Camp Neuron campers are 8-14 years old; Kamp Kaleidoscope campers are 15-19 years old. Children with epilepsy are often denied the privilege of attending summer camp because of their epilepsy, but that is not the case at Epilepsy Camp. Camp is a place where our children living with seizures are able to try new things in a safe, encouraging, supportive environment. Summer camp volunteering requires an investment of time and training on the part of the volunteer and the Epilepsy Foundation. For that reason, EFTX requires All volunteers to attend and participate in all mandatorytraining (including seizure first aid training) along with being in attendance at camp for the entire week.

Our volunteers are a valued and important to fulfilling the Epilepsy’s mission to make camp the best week ever in a child’s life. As a volunteer you will represent the Foundation as a role model for the children in our program. Camper development is a part of our mission, and we believe volunteerism allows all people to get a real world experience in a safe environment. Three things that we need from our volunteers is Communication, Being responsible and to have FUN.

Service Hours

  1. Volunteers that attend the entire week of camp will be awarded 165 service hours at the completion of camp.
  2. If a volunteer does not complete the entire week of camp, service hours will be awarded according to the days that they attended camp
  3. All volunteers will receive a service hour letter with their awarded service hours. These letters will be sent out after camp is over.

If you have any more questions, please reach out to the program Director Suzanne Thomas

To be considered fully vaccinated you must have received both doses of the 2-dose series of the vaccine at least 2 weeks before arriving at camp.
