Navigating the U.S. school system can be a challenge for newcomers to the community. The English Skills Learning Center provides classes for parents, grandparents, and caretakers of children in school. These classes are designed to help class participants learn English language skills as well as gain a better understanding of how they can support children in school.
The English Skills Learning Center is seeking volunteers to assist in teaching these classes. Volunteers will be provided with training and support for teaching adult English language learners. Previous experience teaching is not required.
We ask volunteers to dedicate 1-2 days per week to teaching in classes. Classes run through the school year, beginning in August and closing for the summer in June.
