Join Friends of the Tonto National Forest in removing fountain and buffel grasses along the Hieroglyphic Trail in the beautiful Superstition Mountains. We'll bring the tools and knowledge of invasive plants - you bring the muscle! Removing invasive plants is extremely important to decrease the impact of wildfires as these grasses add fuel to fires, causing them to burn longer and hotter.
This will be our first event of the season. If the forecasted high temperature for the day is 100 degrees F or higher the event will be cancelled.
We will meet at the Hieroglyphic Trailhead and from there hike about 3/4 mile into the wash that leads to the canyon, removing fountain and buffel grasses that is in the wash and in the area.
Help us protect one of the region's most idyllic areas. Check out our video to see a time lapse of volunteers in action!
