About Reading with Sola

Location:

11613 Carbrook Rd, Manor, TX 78653, US

Mission Statement

Reading with Sola aims to eradicate illiteracy within underrepresented groups via the promotion of literacy and the supplying of educational resources while addressing systemic racism and social justice through the power of books and reading. Together, we can normalize reading and help provide children with a foundation for success and a lifelong love of reading by creatively engaging and empowering them.

Description

Reading with Sola is a 501(c)(3) organization that prepares underrepresented children for a lifetime of reading via the promotion of literacy and the supplying of educational resources.

Story time is one of the most powerful learning experiences for children because they naturally make sense of the world through story and play. Story time promotes language and literacy skills, but also strengthens cognitive and social-emotional skills as well.

Reading with Sola works to get books directly into the hands of underrepresented children and schools. Moreover, the organization provides story time, resources, activities, and professional development for educators, parents, and literacy volunteers to make certain that reading evolves into a journey of opportunity for children.
