Catholic Charities provides immigration legal services, counsel, and advocacy through our program Center for Immigration Legal and Support Services. We are currently in need of volunteer Spanish Language Interpreters. Provide Spanish language interpretation and translation as well as translating and transcribing documents for clients and attorneys in order to deliver information and messages between both parties. Interpreters are needed to assist attorneys in preparing immigration cases, including asylum, special immigrant visas, and more. Help needed during legal consultations, client meetings, client phone calls, and mock court hearings.

Commitment levels vary from occasional one-hour meetings to partnering with a pro bono attorney to prepare an entire case. Most volunteer opportunities can be performed remotely. We provide training on best practices to interpret, and knowledge of special terminology is not required. This is a virtual volunteer opportunity but the background check/fingerprinting must be done in California.
