Riis Settlement is looking for volunteers to support students enrolled in our adult English classes for immigrants as conversation partners online.
By providing extra language practice outside of ESOL classes, you will help students improve their English skills for practical use such as in social, educational, or professional settings. Volunteers will be matched with an individual student based on mutual availability. Resources and study materials will be provided. Semester starts: October 1st
Qualifications:
- Able to commit for 10 weeks
- Able to volunteer for 2 hours a week (1 hour per student)
- Able to use GoogleMeet/ Zoom
- Based in the USA
- Be at least 18 years old
- High level of English proficiency
- Able to motivate and engage students
Bilingual volunteers (Spanish, Mandarin, etc), volunteers with teaching or tutoring experience, and volunteers with TESOL/TEFL certifications are highly preferred.
