Do you love to knit, crochet or sew? Bridgeport Hospital is seeking lap blankets, prayer shawls, caps for adults, and fidget blankets.
A Fidget Blanket (lap-size) provides sensory and tactile stimulating activity for people with dementia or recovering from a stroke. These blankets have different textures and small items securely attached to the blanket that a patient can engage with zippers, pockets, snaps, buttons, ribbons, rattles etc. The textures range from silky to fuzzy.
Although all colors are welcomed for lap blankets, we are also looking for blankets that are red, white, and blue for our Veteran patients.
