Support the Solana Center's programs from the ground up! Activities will vary, from tending to the native and edible plants, spreading compost and mulch, staging rain barrels, and implementing site improvements. In joining us for this activity, you will help beautify our grounds, creating a space for engaging our community in our sustainable offerings.
Volunteers must enjoy working outdoors and getting their hands dirty.
Keeping the Solana Center's grounds functioning and looking good helps them engage their visitors with sustainability education and is vital to their ability to impact the community.
Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes
Attire: Wear clothes to get dirty in! Gloves will be provides but feel free to bring your own.
Bring: Reusable water bottle, sun protection.
Physical Requirements: Must be willing to do hands-on work and able to lift up to 20 pounds.
Note: Please be on the lookout for an information email 1-4 days before the event with any additional details. If you can no longer make the event and need to cancel, please let the volunteer coordinator know as soon as possible so they can give your spot to another volunteer. All volunteers under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian to fill out the Solana Center's registration form on their behalf.
About the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation
Solana Center for Environmental Innovation is a San Diego-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that focuses on Zero Waste, composting, and water conservation. They mobilize the local community through innovative outreach and provide consulting services to businesses and jurisdictions in order to address the region's most pressing environmental issues and enact impactful change.
This volunteer opportunity is hosted in partnership with California Climate Action Corps, a program of California Volunteers, Office of the Governor.

We have volunteers accompany us to all of our educational programming and assist us with the support of our programs from our home base. They help us engage with the community about important environmental topics in schools, workshops, and public events. We have programs running all the time all over the County any day of the week and all of them are beginner friendly. All you need is a passion for sustainability!
