Building a Democratic Future: Join the United Vision Project

The division in our country is a challenge that won't be solved in just one election. If you're wondering what you can do to help build the foundation and unite people around the idea that a democratic future is in our collective well-being, or if you're searching for a way to make a lasting and impactful difference, look no further. The United Vision Project offers a unique opportunity to be part of this crucial mission.

Join Us: Be a Leader in Protecting and Advancing Democracy Are you passionate about democracy and ready to make a difference? The United Vision Project needs you! We're seeking volunteers and leaders for our groundbreaking national program designed to combat authoritarianism and disinformation, and to strengthen faith in a democratic future in the US.

Opportunities:

Skill Development: This is an individual investment in building the skills to reach out and navigate conversations across differences with endless curiosity. Discover shared values, recontextualize our understanding of the world, and challenge the dominant political frames that divide us. Through this process you will be engaged in remote outreach gaining experience with tools like Slack and Spoke to protect your anonymity to safely engage in robust conversations with people we think we know but rarely talk to.

Diverse Roles: From taking on leadership roles, to supporting volunteers, moderating discussions, to gaining expertise to graduate to next levels of engagement.

About the Program: This innovative initiative aims to deepen understanding and organize against threats to democracy. It's a chance to be part of a transformative movement, building a multi-racial, inclusive democratic society. The social justice movement writ large generate a lot of messages to try to convince people to change their minds about a particular issue for a policy or an emergent action. Constrained by many factors including funding and foresight, rarely if ever do we do the deep investment in the people in the hardest places to understand the hurt and struggle underlying the alienation of government and the democratic promise. It is a void that has been filled by those who seek division for their personal gain, those who seek to destroy the democratic infrastructure from the inside out and usher in authoritarian rule to our collective and future peril. This program provides a way to reach hundreds of thousands of people at depth and scale, to offer an alternative and reorient the social justice movement toward a more inclusive, pluralistic, and more just world for all of us.

Your Role Can Make a Difference:

  • Engage in Meaningful Conversations: Reach out and connect through text to safely reach out across difference.
  • Training and Support: Receive comprehensive training and join a supportive community.
  • Flexible Involvement: Opportunities available daily, with hours varying by time zone.

Hear from Our Volunteers:

"This project rekindled my hope and showed me a path to healing our divide."

"I've developed empathy and understanding, even in challenging conversations."

United Vision for Idaho’s Code of Ethics

1. We believe it is the primary mission of social movements to enhance human wellbeing, and help meet the basic human needs of all people, with particular attention to the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty.

2. We must focus on individual wellbeing in a social context and the wellbeing of society. Fundamental attention must be paid to the factors and forces that create, contribute to, and perpetuate social problems.

3. We believe that social organizations are obliged to promote social justice and social change with and on behalf of individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities without discrimination or regard for any religious or spiritual affiliation.

4. We must be sensitive to cultural and ethnic diversity and strive to end discrimination, oppression, poverty, and other forms of social injustice and we do this through a number of activities from direct action, community organizing, advocacy, social and political action, policy development and implementation, education, and research and evaluation.

5. We seek access for all people to the resources that enable them to enhance their capacity, address their own needs and that of their communities.

6. We also seek to promote the responsible, ethical organizations, communities, and other social institutions that address individual need and social problems.

7. Our work must be rooted in a set of fundamental values and the principles associated with them that stem from a human rights framework and are evidenced in our service, by our abiding commitment to social, economic and environmental justice, and the common good performed with dignity, integrity, competence and compassion.
