Do you love horses? Love children and being active? Pride Stables has a unique volunteer opportunity for you!
Volunteers are needed to lead horses or side-walk for riders with special needs for our spring session of classes which will run for 8 weeks starting late September. As a leader, you will need the ability to understand and carry out direct instructions. As a side-walker, you will need to comprehend instructions and be able to pass them on to the rider and will also need to physically assist/support the rider if needed. Both positions require physical endurance, good verbal skills and excellent comprehension. No horse experience is necessary; Hands-on orientation training is available. Volunteers must be 15 years of age or older.
We ask our volunteers to commit to at least one class per week.
Classes run Monday-Thursday during the daytime and evenings, and on Saturdays. They are 60 minutes in length, however, volunteers are required to arrive 30 minutes early to groom and tack-up their horse, as well as to untack after class.
New volunteers are asked to attend one of our orientation training sessions.
*Pre-registration for orientation is required* and space is limited!
Upcoming orientation training sessions:
- Monday, September 9th 12-2pm OR 6-8pm
- Wednesday, September 11th 12-2pm OR 6-8pm
- Saturday, September 14th 12-2pm
