The Suncrest Bereavement Support Volunteer connects with our bereaved families with weekly scheduled outreach calls to extend continued condolences and a gentle reminder about the Suncrest Medicare Hospice benefit opportunities within 13 months in which a counselor can connect with the family for supportive psychoeducation about grief and loss, and if needed, to connect with additional community resources that can provide hope and additional assistance to cope with the loss of their loved one.
As a bereavement hospice volunteer, you can provide support to the Bereavement Coordinator within the office by cultivating engaging and thoughtful conversations with families who may have recently lost their loved ones. If you enjoy having compassionate and empathetic conversations, have great time management, and can give at least four hours a week of your beloved time to families, then please reach out to us and join the team!
The philosophy of hospice care is to provide comfort and the highest quality of life that one can achieve at the end of life. Through an interdisciplinary team: nurse, nurse assistant, social worker, chaplain, and volunteers, we help the patient and family walk through their journey.
Suncrest Hospice is looking for volunteers to join the Suncrest Team as we provide excellent care and support to our hospice patients and their families in their homes! We serve families in Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo, Contra Costa, Santa Clara and many other Bay Area counties.
All of our volunteers are trained to provide companionship, but we are looking for volunteers who are willing to become Bereavement Support to families and the entire Suncrest Community. As volunteers are trained in their role with patients, we are required to conduct background checks, drug testing, and TB testing, at no charge to all volunteers.
We are especially looking for volunteers willing to serve patients and families in and around San Jose.
Please contact the office at 408-900-8838 for more information and other questions pertaining to the organization or this listing.
