Throughout the past year WORLDwrite worked with over 100 volunteers on an epic feature-length documentary on the history of solidarity in the UK. This project won a small grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and support from the National Archives. We are now considering proposals for new programmes and a major documentary project for the year ahead. We will start the new production process during our summer train and shoot volunteer package. If volunteering and developing filmmaking skills or testing your existing skills while making an impact is of interest, then this is definitely for you.
Our free train and shoot volunteer packages are designed to ignite your passion for factual filmmaking and storytelling. A dynamic blend of online and face-to-face sessions, you’ll receive immersive camera training using WORLDwrite’s top-end film equipment and invaluable hands-on experience behind the lens. This opportunity is open to everyone aged 16 and above, regardless of your level of experience, whether you’re a seasoned Hollywood director or have never touched a camera. The package will culminate in a celebration of three decades of impact at our grand 30th anniversary garden party.
One or two evenings a week via Zoom and two weekends face to face is all it takes!
The session dates and a simple application form is available on the charity’s website at https://www.worldwrite.org.uk/volunteering
We are open to all, no one will be turned away and no prior skills are required.
All volunteers will receive camera training from media professionals, travel expenses for location shoots and be credited for their input.

WORLDwrite's film facilities and free training provides access to gear and tuition that individuals would never be able to afford otherwise. Uniquely, WORLDwrite has an open door policy, working with people from across the world and around the corner. We encourage a global outlook, critical understanding and aspirations for the best for all. Our programmes push boundaries, question the way the world is and make an impact.
