Being an Apprentice Trainer is an unforgettable and rewarding experience. Many of our Apprentice Trainers choose to participate in the training program for many years because of the community of volunteers, their own spiritual growth, the staff they work with, and because they know that the dogs have a greater purpose.

Apprentice trainers begin the journey of each of the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs. One day the dog in training you work with will be placed with an LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry team to provide comfort and unconditional love. The training, socialization, and love an apprentice trainer provides make it possible for the pup to one day serve thousands of lives as part of the national LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry.

Responsibilities include:

• Fostering
• Training
• Socializing
• Weekly Training Classes
• Exercising

LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Weekly Training Classes are held in Northbrook and East Dundee, Illinois.

Lutheran Church Charities pays all food, supplies, and veterinary care expenses.

To help offset the cost of gasoline and travel expenses, Lutheran Church Charities will offer $100.00 gift cards each month.
