81 Chestnut

We are a non-profit regional arts organization located Downriver. Our home is a 20,000 sq ft arts center where we hold art exhibits, classes and workshops, events, concerts, dances and whatever else artists can dream up! The Downriver Council for the Arts (DCA) presents a well-rounded artistic experience that encompasses many different fine art forms, both visual and performance-based, for adults and children. Our aim is to engage the community in arts and cultural experiences.

The DCA could not operate without the support and dedication of community volunteers.

We are in need of a person or small team of tradespeople who can build us a few moveable, gallery walls. We have a few in another one of our galleries that work well and can be used as a model. These will be used in our Community Gallery, which is utilized by schools and community groups to hold art exhibits for free. This entire program is ran by volunteers!

The current moveable walls we have are old, warn and dangerous. They aren’t stable enough and fall over, sometimes hurting people. Possibly some of the materials could be recycled, but if not, our organization could try to pay for materials, but if you have a way to donate the materials, we could really use it! We are looking to have this completed ideally within a couple of months, but can be flexible depending on your time.

This is an unpaid volunteer position; however, it can also equate to an internship with exchanged hours worked for college class credit. You are also able to earn credit hours from a non-profit organization for your group and/or place of employment (honor societies, scouts, etc.). We would be happy to make arrangements to accommodate this.

Please email dc4arts@downriverarts.org with your inquiry and a brief introduction.
