In 1988, Congress passed the Women's Business Ownership Act that established the National Women's Business Council to focus on the inequalities, exclusion, and inadequacies faced by women business owners. By 2019, 42% of businesses were owned by women. Today, 34 years after the act was passed, IFEL is supporting women business owners with every initiative, every program, and every opportunity we develop.
In honor of National Women's Small Business Month, we are offering more business owners an opportunity to receive the capacity-building support they need to grow their businesses. To provide each business owner the individual support they deserve, we are asking you to engage and mobilize your community to join us.
During each 2-hr, virtual event, we pair volunteers 1:1 to work on a specific deliverable. We provide all the guides and templates they need. Below is a full listing of October events, followed by useful links for first-time volunteers.
We offer virtual volunteer opportunities that take as little as two hours of your time and we provide templates and other materials so no preparation time is needed.
The Small Business Hackathon events that we're doing are having a real impact on the participating business owners. I continue to be moved by the feedback we hear from both business owners and volunteers.
We need your business expertise. During each Small Business Hackathon event, Volunteers are paired with Business Owners and moved into individual breakout rooms to work on a specific deliverable for the duration of a 2-hour, virtual, online meeting. We provide easy-to-use templates for the deliverables so there is virtually no advance work needed.
We are in need of volunteers in the following areas:
Financial Projections
Website UX Review
Social Media Marketing
Competitive Landscape Overview
We would love to have you or your team join us!
Small Business Needs Us...still! Together, we can make a difference.
