Male pianist
Volunteer Pianist

We are looking for pianists on the peninsula and in the San Francisco, CA area.

SpiritCare Ministry to Seniors provides worship services and spiritual support to people of all faiths in care communities. We need pianists to accompany the singing during these weekday services. The services are 30-40 minutes long and located in care communities in San Bruno and San Francisco. This is an ideal position for a hobby pianist, a college student, a retiree who loves church music, or an accompanist who would like to donate their time.

You will play five, pre-selected hymns, as well as some background music. Most of our hymns are traditional favorites as shown at the YouTube link here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeXBVY4R5ycHA5dhyLAt-Aw/playlists We can find a location and time that works for you. You can sign up for a weekly service or if you are not able to play regularly, then we always need backups when our regulars are on vacation. Music groups and ensembles are also welcome to join SpiritCare to play regularly or for special events.

Many of the seniors in care homes can't get to church. These in-person worship services by SpiritCare (https://www.spiritcareministry.org/) give them hope and encouragement. Please reach out to learn out about how you can contribute. Thank you!

About SpiritCare Ministry to Seniors

Location:

1443 HOWARD AVE, BURLINGAME, CA 94010, US

Mission Statement

The purpose of SpiritCare Ministry to Seniors is to serve the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly living in long-term care centers by: sharing the comfort and encouragement of the gospel of Jesus Christ providing chaplaincy services for hospital residents and staff organizing and supervising worship and visitation teams from various churches and community groups educating the public about issues of aging and spirituality through publications, seminars, and special events

Description

For over 30 years we have provided worship services in care communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. We need volunteers who can help with the services by accompanying hymn-singing on a piano, singing, reading scripture and helping hand-out music. We also need volunteers to help with our administration, helping in outreach to volunteers and volunteer management. We serve over 60 care communities in the San Francisco Bay Area and are looking for volunteer pastors who can take a home and provide a communion service once a month there. We served about 1400 residents a month in care communities. We need people who can visit regularly to chat with older adults one-on-one - maybe read a story, share a game, pray with people or share pictures. We also need board members who have a passion for helping older adults and agree with our mission to help raise funds. This is a ministry that families with children can participate in. Children can communicate with elders by sharing their stories, pictures and toys. The ministry also helps children develop public speaking and musical talent by encouraging them to help in the worship services - for example a group of children may sing a song or play music with a guitar. We also have talented musical children who can give recitals of acoustic instruments.
