SAVE THE DATE: New Year's Eve - Tuesday December 31st 2024
First Night Alexandria's 30th Anniversary!
Alexandria Festival of Music and More! The event organizers are planning another safe and
responsible return to our family-friendly New Year’s Eve experience in Alexandria.
As you know, Alexandria is a popular destination - all year long! That’s something we continue to be proud of as the community looks forward to celebrating bringing in 2025 at our capstone holiday event.

Mission Statement
First Night Alexandria is dedicated to bringing Alexandria the largest family- friendly and alcohol-free New Year's Eve event in the region. New Year’s Eve is celebrated with performing arts in in Old Town Alexandria. Where museums, churches, rec centers and historic buildings turn into performance venues showcasing area talent. Since 1994, First Night Alexandria has collaborated with area businesses, volunteers, sponsors and supporters to adapt to changing needs, begin new traditions and deliver a community-wide New Year's Eve celebration to remember!
Description
First Night Alexandria is a celebration of the New Year through the performing arts. More than 25 performances take place on 10 indoor stages within Old Town Alexandria. We have performances focused on children and seniors during the daytime and family-friendly concerts all evening! Entertainment includes roots rock, comedy, jazz, R&B, contemporary dance, magic and a Silent Disco. It's fun, affordable and safe and venues are alcohol-free.
Volunteers sign up for one or more shifts to serve at various venues. Duties include assisting at performance venues or activity sites to support attendees and performers. It’s a great way to enjoy live performances and see the fireworks!
Attendees purchase tickets online for the specific shows they want to attend. Venues are walkable and the King Street trolley is free. Additionally, the Dash bus rollis from the Masonic Temple to Market Square.
The Countdown to 2025 begins with a Street Party is from 4pm - 6pm with Twilight Fireworks. An encore fireworks display will take place on the waterfront at midnight as we ring in the New Year over the Potomac River.

REQUIREMENTS
- This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
- Must be at least 16
- Orientation or Training
- We ask that each volunteer commit at least three hours to our event. Of course stay as long as you like; we will be there through the midnight fireworks display!
- All volunteers will initially meet at the Masonic Temple, 101 Callahan Drive, Alexandria, VA to receive vests and instructions. Please arrive 20 minutes before your shift time. Performance venues are in and around Old Town.
