We need people to press fabric, cut, sew together blocks and create a Quilt of Valor. Then we need volunteer quilters to put the batting between the top and back we provide and stitch the layers together. Then we get the quilt back to add the binding by machine and then hand stitch the other side, add a label and then a wash before scheduling awards.
Any Veteran can receive this Once in a Lifetime Award by filling out a request at www.socalQov.org.

About QUILTS OF VALOR FOUNDATION

Location:

PO BOX 191, WINTERSET, IA 50273, US

Mission Statement

The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.

Description

Our volunteers create sewn quilts from cotton fabric to be able to award to our local Veterans to thank them for their service, welcome them home and help them in their healing. We meet in Bellflower on Tues afternoon, at this time. Anyone is welcome to come to volunteer. For details, call Barbara 562.925.7673. There we press and cut the fabric, then sew the pieces together to create the beautiful quilt tops, then sew a back before a long-arm quilter puts the batting in and stitches the layers together. Then it is returned to us to bind, put on a label and wash in preparation for awarding. If the Veteran is in the LA or OC areas of CA, they can request a quilt at www.socalqov.org. Anyone can nominate or request a quilt anywhere is the US at www.qovf.org, where they will locate someone in their area to do the award.
