About Wisconsin Film Festival
Location:
821 University Ave., Madison, WI 53706, US
Mission Statement
The Wisconsin Film Festival curates, promotes, and exhibits programs that showcase the art and history of world cinema. A non-profit annual event supported by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Festival advances the teaching, research, and public service mission of the University by exposing the campus and the greater community to films and filmmakers from Wisconsin and beyond. The Wisconsin Film Festival is firmly grounded in the belief that cinema is an essential art form that enriches human experience and enhances our knowledge of diverse cultures. As such, we seek to create a strong sense of community by creating a diverse program of films for viewers of all ages presented with state-of-the-art projection. The Wisconsin Film Festival is the Wisconsin Idea in action.
Description
The Wisconsin Film Festival is a vital part of the cultural landscape of Madison, Wisconsin and the state. Our enthusiastic team of 250+ volunteers form the Festival's workforce; taking tickets, managing patron lines, surveying audience preferences, helping with pre-Festival preparations, marketing and set-up and with post-Festival tasks. Our volunteer team comes from all walks of life. UW students, retirees, professionals and avid cinephiles work together to create a great Festival experience for our audiences. During the opening weekend, volunteers can choose to serve at 5 locations - four campus venues and the Madison AMC 6. To thank volunteers for their time and efforts, the Festival gives 2 complimentary tickets for each 4 hour workshift, hosts some special volunteer events and gives each volunteer a specially designed tee-shirt for each year.
