ORGANIZATION: NORFOLK COUNTY RSVP

  • 5 people are interested

The Norfolk County RSVP Volunteer Program is seeking 1-2 elementary school volunteers to assist Kindergarten - 2nd grade teachers in Weymouth in providing one-on-one and small group support for young learners who would benefit from extra attention in reading and related literacy/language arts activities.

RSVP welcomes caring adults with a range of backgrounds, life experiences, and expertise who want to make a difference in the lives of children. Whether you have never assisted in a classroom before or are a recently retired teacher, we're interested in talking to you about becoming a school volunteer for this coming fall.

School volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 1 hour per week throughout the school year, ending in June.

A CORI background check and interview with one of the RSVP staff is required for all interested school volunteers. Participation in two 2.5 hour classroom training sessions is also required for all new school volunteers in order to facilitate their smooth transition into the classroom.

Norfolk County RSVP is funded by the Norfolk County Commissioners and a federal grant from AmeriCorps Seniors to encourage and support community service and volunteerism at a national and local level.

Volunteers must be ages 55 and older to participate in this special intergenerational school volunteer program. One-year commitment expected (Nov 2023-June 2024). Training is provided.
