OurStepsfor Healing Annual 5K run a few months away on November 23 at Zoo Miami. This is an official call to all those who wish to volunteerat this event in support of CBC! As a volunteer, you will help with different tasks which include setting-up, guiding runners and handing out water, assisting at the different booths, breaking down at the end of the event and many other activities that will help this day be a successful one for all. Volunteers will receive community service hours for attending the volunteer online training before the event and forvolunteering the day of the event. Volunteers will also receive admission to the zoo all day, T-shirt, and free breakfast. If you are interested in volunteering forStepsfor Healing 5K, follow the instructions below:

  1. Attend the required volunteer online training session via Zoom in November (TBA). The zoom link will be sent closer to the event date.
  2. Make sure to be on time for training and event date, Nov. 23!

Mission Statement

The Children’s Bereavement Center mission is to help children, young adults, and their families adjust to life after the loss of a loved one within a supportive community of their peers, and to promote healthful grief, healing and growth.

Description

The Children's Bereavement Center provides free Peer Support Groups for children, young adults, and adult caregivers after the death of a loved one. Groups are open to anyone who has lost a parent, sibling, grandparent, relative, or friend as a result of illness, accident, suicide, or homicide. Losses can be recent or in years past. Groups are held on Monday evenings in Coconut Grove, Tuesday evenings in Miami Shores and Palm Beach, and Wednesday evenings in Doral and Broward throughout the school year. Groups are open to children age 5 through young adult as well as adult caregivers. Adult support groups are available in both English and Spanish. Free pizza dinner is also provided prior to groups. Families must attend Orientation (held monthly) prior to attending. Participants can contact the CBC office at 305-668-4902 for information or to register.

The Children’s Bereavement Center provides our Bereavement Support Groups at locations in Miami-Dade and Broward, and Palm Beach.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 15
  • Volunteers are required to complete a 1hr training before event date. On event date (November 19th) Volunteers are required to attend from 5am-11am.
