York Habitat for Humanity has multiple committees that work behind the scenes to make our mission possible. Currently we are seeking volunteers to serve on our Finance Committee.
The Finance Committee oversees the implementation and administration of policies for the handling and accounting for the finances of York Habitat For Humanity, preparing an annual budget for approval by the Board, monitoring the implementation of the budget and, where necessary, make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding adjustments to the budget The Finance Committee will select the outside auditors who will perform an independent audit of the Affiliate and be responsible to the Board of Directors for policy development regarding legal issues relating to financial and auditing matters, mortgage payments and insurance coverage.
COMMITTEE MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
· Attend Committee meetings (If you cannot attend a meeting, the Committee Chair must be notified at least two days before the meeting)
· Act as an ambassador in the community for York Habitat for Humanity
· Be familiar with other aspects of YHFH by volunteering at least twice a year at the construction site, community event, Restore, and fundraising
· Have a desire to provide services to the community
· Have good "social/people" skills
· Know the three selection criteria
· Be familiar with the goals and methods of York Habitat for Humanity
· Show a willingness to follow the policies set forth by York Habitat for Humanity
· Professional or personal experience in one or more of the following areas is also helpful:
o Experience with human services or affordable housing
o Knowledge or experience with the mortgage lending process or real estate
o Organizational and committee management skills
o Personal finance background and interest
o Accounting Experience/CPA

Since 1985, York Habitat for Humanity has built over 150 modest homes to serve low-income, hard-working families in need. Our volunteers can learn new skills, utilize their talents by building on the job site, or give some customer service at our ReStore - where all proceeds are directed back towards our building efforts. We also have opportunities on multiple committees and the Board of Directors to ensure our mission reaches all of York County.
