Are you 55 or older and eager to make your community a better place? Join AmeriCorps Seniors Metro Atlanta RSVP, a volunteer program that mobilizes seasoned adults to serve as peer educators and advocates.
RSVP volunteers can serve in these ways: give community presentations, facilitate peer wellness workshops, represent the aging network at resource fairs, provide telephone reassurance to isolated older adults, and sometimes assist local aging organizations with special projects. Volunteering is flexible to fit your schedule.
Metro Atlanta RSVP volunteers who serve as public speakers educate older adults about topics related to health and wellness, local resources, safety, and other important subjects.
We equip all volunteer presenters with an optional PowerPoints, suggested scripts, handouts, training, and full support. Presenters provide basic information to an audience - enough to spark an interest so that they can take further action on their own. You needn’t be an expert. Just bring your enthusiasm.
Presenters' Responsibilities:
- Select the opportunity of your choice. (Common locations include senior centers, senior apartments, faith communities, Zoom rooms, and other gathering places.)
- Make a one-hour presentation or staff our Area Agency on Aging table at an information fair.
- Maintain strict confidentiality standards.
If you're eager to improve life for aging Metro Atlantans, contact us today and explore the options.
Metro Atlanta RSVP is a program of the Atlanta Regional Commission.
