Volunteer performing yard work

UR Community Cares is uniquely designed as a digital platform to link Community Members (70yo+ and/or physically disabled) with Volunteers (15yo+). Volunteers can perform: Yard Work, Housework and/or be a Companion at the Community Member’s home. We perform background checks on all that enroll to ensure safety and we are fully insured. The Community Members choose the Category and time they need service, then the Volunteer will select the service they can perform based on their availability. Good way to help UR Community and get community service hours if needed.

About UR COMMUNITY CARES INC

Location:

5 JAMIE LN, UNIT C, MANCHESTER, CT 06042, US

Mission Statement

UR Community Cares provides the connection that helps older adults and people with physical disabilities live safely at home through community-based volunteer support. Funding covers all direct program costs so services are free for background-checked participants enrolled at URCommunityCares.org.

Description

UR Community Cares digitally connects intergenerational volunteers with age qualified adults (age 70+, or age 18+ with a physical disability) who need assistance at home (temporarily or permanently). As the population of older adults grows dramatically in the upcoming years, we provide resources to support those "aging in place" and help support their caregivers. URCommunityCares.org helps maintain social connections for improved quality of life and health outcomes, at no cost to participants. Currently UR Community Cares has no staff and is 100% volunteer. UR Community Cares has proven that their scalable digital platform connects volunteers to residents in need. Partner organizations can enroll participants as a group such as a high school for students to volunteer together or social workers can enroll members that don't have the internet. We are poised to expand the use of the platform throughout Connecticut and then more broadly to communities nationally.
