Elara Caring, one of the nation's largest providers of home-based and hospice care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life companionship to local hospice patients and their families and support for healthcare workers.
Bereavement volunteering includes:
- Writing sympathy cards
- Creating bereavement guides
- Assembling grief support packets
- Keepsake projects for remembrance
- General office assistance for the bereavement department
- And much more!
The onboarding process includes a background check and fingerprinting to maintain compliance with the Illinois Department of Public Health. A hospice volunteer must be 14 years old to participate according to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines.
