ORGANIZATION: St. Vincent Meals on Wheels

Overview: The Talking Tech Mentor is a remote opportunity that teaches technology to homebound senior/disabled St. Vincent Meals On Wheels clients based on needs and preferences. All classes and training will be conducted via telephone or video. Some of the classes involve basic computer training and online activities for education and socialization.

Impact: You can make a difference in the lives of 1900+ homebound seniors and vulnerable residents across Los Angeles. Grow your skills and advocate for those in need.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilites: The Talking Tech Mentor teaches technology-related topics via telephone or video, will effectively communicate the various topics of interest in a clear and intelligible manner, and will anticipate the learning needs of clients.

Requirements:

The volunteer will be an effective communicator who will possess active listening skills and will anticipate the needs of each individual client

Volunteers must be age 15+ and pass a background check

Bilingual in Spanish, Korean, or Chinese is a plus

Scheduling if flexible (arranged between the client and the volunteer). A hybrid model of teaching is allowed with the approval of the program's coordinator.

The minimum time commitment is three months
