In only a few hours a month, you can make a difference in a child's life. Madison County ranks among Indiana's highest for substantiated child abuse and neglect cases, and has the second longest waiting list for child advocates. Over 400 children are waiting for Court Appointed Special Advocates to be trusted guides and voices in decisions toward safe, permanent homes. East Central Indiana CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is recruiting volunteers to address this need. The child advocate gathers information about the child's case, interviews individuals involved with the child, checks-in with the child monthly, makes a recommendation to the court regarding what they believe is best for the child, and advocates on the child's behalf. Individuals must be age 21 or over and meet screening requirements. Extensive training and support are provided. For more information, go to 400TooMany.org; call 765-649-7215 or email eastcentralindianacasa@gmail.com. Apply online at https://eastcentralcasa.org/volunteer-application/.
