LaAmistad Afterschool is in need of compassionate, community-minded volunteers to provide its students with homework help and scholastic reinforcement 2-4 days per week.
The goal of LaAmistad is to support Latino students and their families by providing a comprehensive support system through tutoring, mentoring, and resources that promote academic, physical and personal growth.
LaAmistad is seeking volunteers that can provide elementary school age homework help at an after-school program. Volunteers work alongside a staff teacher and parent liaison. No Spanish or education experience necessary!
This site offers volunteer hours Tuesday and Thursday 3:30 - 5:00 PM
Field of Interest/Skills: Early Childhood Development, Sociology, Psychology, Nonprofit Administration, Civic Engagement, Spanish, Communications Studies
Time Commitment: Volunteers are encouraged to serve as consistently as possible, but are not bound by any strict requirement to do so. On program days, the time commitment is about 1.5 hours, with 2 opportunities to serve per week.

Description
LaAmistad is a volunteer driven nonprofit organization that empowers Latino students with the knowledge and skills needed to reach their dreams. We provide after school tutoring, reading and math enrichment, preschool education, one on one tutoring opportunities, summer camp, mentoring, and sports programs students in Grades K-12.
LaAmistad also hosts the largest community-based adult English as a Second Language program in Georgia, parenting workshops, and serves as a resource center complete with information on employment, health, counseling, legal and financial services, and scholarship information. Our unique library contains books, computers with internet, and resource center are available for use by all of our students and families.
