Access Youth Academy is a non-profit after-school program dedicated to assisting underserved, low-income middle and high school students in San Diego County. The program offers training in squash and pickleball, along with various academic enhancement opportunities such as tutoring, academic check-ins, and college advising support. The ultimate goal is to equip students with the resources needed to apply to and graduate from a 4-year college or university. This mission is achieved by empowering youth through a blend of academic assistance, community service, and sports.
Currently, Access Youth Academy is seeking tutors proficient in Spanish to volunteer in-person from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Volunteers are encouraged to commit to tutoring at least three weekdays each month at our facility in Southeast San Diego. Students in the program range from grades 5-12, with Spanish courses spanning from beginner to advanced levels based on grade.
As an organization dedicated to supporting underserved youth in San Diego, volunteer tutors play a crucial role in extending the academic assistance provided in our community. Volunteering not only offers valuable experience in an educational setting but also contributes significantly to our organization's mission.
For more information on becoming a tutor at Access Youth Academy, please reach out to Siarah Reed, Program Director, at siarah@accessyouthacademy.org.
