The Coleman Ave route needs a feeder to cover either sunday and either Wednesday or Thursday evening on a weekly basis .
Help feed several groups of community cats off of Coleman Ave in San Jose, just minutes from SJ airport. You will need a car to travel along the 1.5 mile route and access the different stops, where you will provide food and water and monitor the cats for any changes in health and behavior.
Start time is flexible and up to you, but you will be dependent on natural sunlight to do the route. In winter months of Nov-Jan, start time will be easiest at 4:30/5, but once Spring comes, later start times of 5:30 and later are possible.
Once the cats get to know you, and you them (each cat has a name), they will welcome you with head butts and leg rubs and allow some pets.
You are asked to send a summary email of how the feeding went within 24 hours of feeding so the group can stay updated. Food is provided for free and is available for pickup from a volunteer’s garage in SJ.
Most feeders have been doing this route for more than 2 years because it is easy, fun and fulfilling!
Please note:
- We require a minimum commitment of 6 months
- Anyone under 18 is required to be accompanied by an adult every time they feed
