Ready to use your language skills to create opportunities around the world? Are you interested in or already involved in Russian translation and looking to expand your vocabulary? Apply to become a Kiva Volunteer Russian Translator!

This is an unpaid, remote volunteer position.

Kiva is an international nonprofit operating in over 70 countries with a mission of expanding financial access and helping underserved communities thrive. We achieve this by crowdfunding loans on kiva.org for entrepreneurs, smallholder farmers, students, and more individuals while tackling the barriers to financial access globally through innovative projects and partnerships. We blend the agility of a tech start-up with the compassion of a nonprofit to drive impact and create opportunities at a global scale. With 100+ employees and 400+ volunteers located around the world, we're growing as we seize new opportunities to build a more financially inclusive world.

Kiva’s Review and Translation Program partners with over 400 volunteers who support Kiva's mission of expanding financial access. They do so by editing, translating, and providing a policy review of loan profiles before they are posted on Kiva.org to fund. Each profile gives a snapshot of the borrower’s background and how they plan to use their loan, helping connect individuals with Kiva lenders.

Kiva translators come from many different backgrounds, ranging from graduate students to retired professionals. All translations are done online, making it easy to work from anywhere-whether it’s your dorm room, a hotel, or your favorite coffee shop!

As a Kiva Russian Translator, you will:

  • Translate loan profiles from Russian to English while preserving the Lending Partner's voice.
  • Check each loan profile for clarity and alignment with Kiva's policies.
  • Important: Volunteers do not decide if borrowers get approved or denied for loans. This is done by Kiva and Lending Partners.
