Description of the Opportunity:
Do you like having fun in the summer? The Vancouver Maritime Museum is looking for volunteers to help with running day camps Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm during the months of July and August. The role involves leading activities, playing games, doing crafts, and supervising children ages 6 to 11. There is some degree of flexibility to the hours and if you are interested, you can commit to volunteering regularly for a particular day(s) or portion of a day(s), each week. Qualifications:
- Able to work with children and youth
- Comfortable supervising children and youth
- Interested in crafts and activities
- Able to pass a background/police screening check

Description
The Vancouver Maritime Museum is located within Vanier Park just west of False Creek on the Vancouver waterfront. The main exhibit is the St. Roch, an historic arctic exploration vessel used by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The museum also has extensive galleries of model ships, including a particularly fine bone model of the French warship Vengeur du Peuple which was built around 1800 by French prisoners of war, a Children's Maritime Discovery Centre, a recreation of the fo'c'sle (forecastle) of Vancouver's ship Discovery, an extensive collection of maritime art, and a large library and archives.
