The Pantry Assistant is responsible for assisting clients as they select their groceries at the Eagan Pantry.
Primary Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
* Assist clients as they select their groceries based on The Open Door Pantry guidelines
* Provide excellent customer service.
* Answer questions
* Assist with restocking, as needed.
This volunteer position will support Food Distribution Programs that provide access to fresh healthy food for nearly 8,000 people each month.
Training and Support
Attending a volunteer orientation is required before volunteering. Pantry Assistants are emailed prior to first volunteer shift. Training is provided on site by staff and/or shadowing other volunteers.
Staff will be available throughout the entire volunteer shift.
Commitment (time, duration and location)
Pantry Assistants are at the Eagan Pantry location, 3000 Ames Crossing Rd., Suite 100. Volunteer shifts are ~2 hours long. Weekday morning, afternoon and evening opportunities are available
There is no requirement of volunteer shifts each month.

Description
The Open Door is a hunger relief organization dedicated to ending local hunger through access to healthy food. Through its collective programs, The Open Door serves more than 15,000 Dakota County residents each month, and distributes nearly 2 million pounds of food annually, 70% of which is fresh and/or perishable. Clients are able to access healthy food choices through a fixed-site food pantry in Eagan, multiple Mobile Pantry sites, the Mobile Lunch Box, and the Garden To Table program.
