Help support children’s literacy in your community and inspire a love of books and reading by becoming a Volunteer Reader. This volunteer position is vital to SMART Reading, providing direct literacy support to kids through weekly shared reading sessions. Volunteer Readers will read with one assigned child (One-to-One SMART) or to a classroom of students (Classroom SMART).
The SMART Reading program has Volunteer Reader opportunities throughout Carlton, Dallas, Salem, McMinnville, Monmouth, Newberg, Woodburn and beyond. Programs run during school hours Monday - Friday. Time commitment is one hour per week.
