ORGANIZATION: Friends of the St. Clair River

Tuesday Treks

Join us every Tuesday morning from 10am to 12pm as we work to protect this segment of restored shoreline of the St. Clair River, home to the largest threatened Lake Sturgeon population in the entire Great Lakes. Meet at the south entrance of the park: near 2200 Military Street. No prior experience or skills required! Bring your favorite garden tools and gloves if you have them; we've got extras if you don't. Description

Friends of the St. Clair River is Michigan's Thumb Coast environmental non-profit showing 40 miles of love to the St. Clair River and its watersheds since 2007. Based in St. Clair County, our service area includes the 40-mile long St. Clair River and five smaller sub-watersheds draining directly into Lake Huron, the St. Clair River, and Lake St. Clair.Together - with our local, regional, state, and federal partners - we implement a variety of initiatives including water and land stewardship, water quality monitoring, river cleanups, advocate for healthy water, lead research-based ecosystem management, and promote responsible water-based recreation.

REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
  • Two hours per week, come one week or every week!
  • Work/gardening gloves and weather appropriate attire. Bring your own garden tools if you have them. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
