Join us at our next community cleanup to combat litter and keep our community beautiful! As of June 2022, over 1,300 volunteers have participated in cleanups in Cumberland County and picked up over 12 tons of litter. Every volunteer makes a difference in our efforts to encourage an end to litter and a reduction in waste from single-use packaging.
Volunteer registration is available at
https://sustainablesandhills.app.neoncrm.com/eventReg.jsp?event=24&
All cleanup supplies will be provided for volunteers, but we ask that they bring a water bottle. In case of changes due to weather, an email will be sent to all registered volunteers. Volunteer hours with Sustainable Sandhills can be counted toward community service requirements. We would love to have your business, church, sorority or fraternity, or other organization come out to volunteer! To inquire about community service hours or schedule your group to volunteer, please contact Trinity Vetere at trinity@sustainablesandhills.org.

Mission Statement
Strengthening communities by creating resilient environmental, economic and social resources for current and future generations
Description
Since 2005, Sustainable Sandhills has served the Sandhills region of central and southeastern North Carolina. The organization now has a nine county reach area, where we strengthen communities by creating resilient environmental, economic and social resources for current and future generations. We work in eight impact areas: energy resiliency, air quality, water quality, waste management, public health, land and wildlife conservation, local agriculture and sustainable infrastructure.
Our current programs are focusing on air quality for the Fayetteville Area Metropolitan Planning Region; heat and wildfire smoke vulnerability; hazard mitigation; litter/illegal dumping abatement; recycling; PFAS and GenX and other emerging chemicals; Go Green Initiative in Cumberland County Schools; Green Business Program; Made from Scratch Program (teaching "urban homesteading" skills that can be translated into small businesses); community gardens; and a local farmers market that connects small farms and cottage industries with a customer base.
