Nearly1 in 4 Rhode Island households are food insecure as a result of COVID-19 - the highest rate of food insecurity in the State in 20 years.
Meanwhile, about 40% of consumable food is being thrown out.
That’s where Rescuing Leftover Cuisine steps in.
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit food rescue organization that bridges the gap between available food and those who need it through our network of volunteer "Rescuers" using our food rescue app!
Food Donors include restaurants, hotels, schools, caterers, businesses who host catered events, and others. The mission of RLC is to redistribute excess food to feed people experiencing food insecurity.
Description
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit food rescue organization. RLC uses a custom web application to crowdsource community members as "Rescuers" to transport excess food from food donor partners to nonprofit organizations, feeding people instead of landfills.
