Volunteer Position: Newsletter and Mass Texting Coordinator

ORGANIZATION: A.L.A.Y.A Ministries

Purpose: To support A.L.A.Y.A Ministries’ communication efforts by effectively managing and distributing the organization’s newsletters and mass text messages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Newsletter Management:

    • Design and Layout: Create visually appealing newsletter templates that align with the organization’s branding and messaging.
    • Content Creation: Collaborate with staff to develop engaging content that highlights the organization’s programs, events, and success stories.
    • Editing: Proofread newsletters for clarity, grammar, and accuracy.
    • Distribution: Manage the email list and send out newsletters in a timely manner.
    • Analytics: Monitor open rates and engagement to improve future newsletters.
  • Mass Texting:

    • Subscriber Management: Maintain and update the list of text message subscribers.
    • Message Drafting: Write clear and concise text messages that communicate upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and organizational updates.
    • Scheduling: Ensure messages are sent at optimal times for maximum engagement.
    • Compliance: Adhere to texting regulations and best practices to maintain subscriber trust and legal compliance.
    • Feedback Loop: Establish a system for subscribers to provide feedback or ask questions via text.

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Experience with email marketing tools and mass texting platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to the organization’s values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 5-10 hours per week, with increased hours leading up to major events or campaigns.

Training and Support:

  • Training on the organization’s communication tools and platforms will be provided.
  • Ongoing support from the communications team and regular check-ins to ensure success.

Description

A.L.A.Y.A Ministries (Activating Leadership to Accomplish Your Ambitions) is a 501(c)(3) organization in Houston, TX, founded by Neiki Jones in 2009. Our mission is to recognize, nurture, and support leaders of all ages and backgrounds. We help people discover and fulfill their leadership potential. We have served over 1000 women, men, and children through our programs and services, and over 5000 individuals in low-income communities.

We are honored to have received many awards and recognitions, such as:
