KeelWorks is a 501c3 charitiable foundation with a mission to get people to work - especially the economically disadvantaged. We have two active programs and one in development. The KeelWings program supports student trasition to employment. The KeelMate program helps the experienced transition from an unsustaining field to another. The KeelMaster program is our most ambitious project: it will get the most challenged unemployed to gainful employment. The KeelMaster program requires significant software development.

Board members share the foundation belief that a critical requirement for world peace is equal access to gainful employment and essential needs fulfillment. The foundation is interested economic parity. We want to give everyone a chance to contribute, to have sustaining income, and a chance at a better life.

Board members should understand the KeelWorks mission and method. Until our website (https://keelworks.org) redesign is implemented in early July 2024, follow this link and request access to About KeelWorks: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PjXWDggJDZHVHHRvqKkK5NFlpZrTllY19IN_Y96_WPY/edit#heading=h.ove9ct39ftr2.

Board members should advocate for a marginalized part of society or bring expertise and perspective heretofore unavailable to the foundation. Further, board members need to be communicators. They need to be active participants in fundraising. They need to be active in foundation planning and operations though we would not expect more than about five hours a month.

It would be nice to have board members who know people of wealth (we have none of that). Interested parties should include a resume with their application and a rationale for why they might make a credible candidate.

Note: Board members are not paid. For 16 years, we have provided services to those in need without paid staff. We'd like to change that some day, but you mustn't come to the foundation seeking wealth.

If Interested, please contact Thomas.garrod@keelworks.org with your resume and an introduction.

About KeelWorks Foundation

Location:

2398 WEST BEACH RD, OAK HARBOR, WA 98277, US

Mission Statement

To support a better world with better citizens by fostering learning competence, emotional intelligence, and networked intelligence. KeelWorks especially wishes to bring greater participation to the economically disadvantaged across the globe. We are building a system to support upward mobility.

Description

KeelWorks is a 501c3 foundation. Since 2008 hundreds of graduate students and unemployed workers, reached gainful employment while helping KeelWorks build structure for change. We want to end poverty across the world, changing one life at a time. The KeelWings program for recent students and the KeelMate program for transitioning workers apply their learning while gaining experience supporting the KeelMaster program development. This experience reflected in a competent resume - with our guidance - qualifies them as a credible job applicant. The KeelMaster program is designed to support employment for the more challenged unemployed. This program begins with barrier identification and mitigation, assigns participants facilitated teams where they learn core competencies, ending with goal determination. They access training, and while doing so, join paid internships. Mutual support, core competencies, application, and clear and objective progress metrics support measured results. This structure for change will be replicated over and over across the globe. While other programs give the needy fish, we teach teach them to fish.
