Be the Calm in the Storm: Join the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team Today!
Join the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) as a volunteer and become an essential part of emergency response efforts in Westfield, NY. As a Disaster Action Team Volunteer, you will play a vital role in providing immediate assistance, comfort, and support to individuals and families experiencing a crisis, particularly house fires!
Disaster Action Teams respond within two hours to the scene of a house fire, meeting the immediate basic needs of those affected and beginning recovery casework.
To properly perform on a Disaster Action Team, volunteers must be able to provide empathetic support to individuals experiencing distress and uncertainty through challenging times, present strong verbal communication skills, willingness to work collaboratively and be dependable in responding to disasters calls and fulfilling assigned responsibilities.
*This is an on-call position with need for volunteers willing to travel throughout Chautauqua County!*
