ORGANIZATION: Nourishing Hope

¿Hablas español? Use your Spanish skills at El Mercadito (at 3533 W. North Ave) by becoming our next bilingual intake volunteer! Since this is a directly client-facing volunteer role, it is also one of the most rewarding. The majority of our clients at El Mercadito are Spanish-speaking and we want to provide them with exceptional customer care in their native language.

The client in-take volunteer registers the client for their monthly or weekly distribution visits. Intake is currently being conducted on an iPad, so it’s important that you’re comfortable working with that technology and bring your glasses if you need them! This opportunity takes place Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:30am - 3:30pm at 3533 W. North Ave.

About Nourishing Hope

Location:

3945 N. Sheridan, Chicago, IL 60613, US

Mission Statement

Nourishing Hope (formerly Lakeview Pantry) strives to eliminate hunger in our community by: Providing food to fill the basic need of hungry people, increasing the independence of our clients through self-help initiatives and other innovative programs, and raising awareness of poverty and its solution.

Description

Nourishing Hope (formerly Lakeview Pantry) is a dynamic social services organization providing food, mental wellness counseling, and other social services, such as job and housing assistance, to our Chicago neighbors in need. While our doors are open to all, the vast majority of those we serve within our neighborhood may be disabled, working for minimum wage, recently unemployed, or the elderly. Whatever the reason, we are here to help. Founded in 1970, we strive to serve the needs of the whole person-with respect and dignity, always.
