The Problem
More than 50% of older Americans (ages 60+) say they feel lonely, and a quarter of older Americans are socially isolated, which can negatively affect their physical and mental health. And, with physical distancing protocols currently in place due to COVID-19, seniors are even more at risk for these issues.
The SolutionResearch shows that encouraging older adults to share their stories benefits the emotional, physical, and mental well-being of older adults, and leads to greater empathy and stronger connection with the listener.
Reach out to an older adult in your life and ask them to to share a story from their life with you! By doing this, you’ll help decrease isolation in Seniors.
