Inside Out

Inside Out Reentry Community is currently seeking volunteer mentors (especially male mentors) to provide social, emotional, and practical support to a returning citizen. Mentors correspond with an incarcerated individual who will be reentering the community in order to listen, provide non-judgmental support, and offer companionship. Form a meaningful friendship and help a returning citizen overcome barriers, increase their confidence, and reach their goals.

Virtual training is provided, and since mentorship is done through correspondence through letters it can be done from home.

About Inside Out Reentry Community

Location:

804 S Capital St., IOWA CITY, IA 52240, US

Mission Statement

Our mission: to support people involved in the criminal legal system and educate the public in order to promote healing, restore relationships, and reduce recidivism.

Description

Inside Out Reentry Community is based in Iowa City and serves people returning to Johnson County after incarceration. We also work with individuals incarcerated throughout the State to help them develop re-entry plans, regardless of where they plan to live after release. Returning to and becoming an active member of society after being in prison is tough, and we strive to give these individuals every possible chance to build productive lives. Our entire community benefits when a returnee finds work, a place to live, and becomes a positive, contributing citizen.
