Description: The Virtual Support Group Facilitator Volunteer plays a critical role in empowering, educating, counseling, and inspiring families and individuals seeking a path to a brighter future. They facilitate and conduct support groups based on their life experiences.
**The responsibilities for this role are performed 100% remotely. **
Responsibilities:
Create a safe and supportive environment for sharing experiences and emotions
Maintain confidentiality and respect for all group members.
Lead support group meetings alongside interns, and demonstrate preparedness by developing content, engaging participants, and providing support to other leaders outside of meeting times.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the support group and make recommendations for improvement.
Assist with working on specific goals and objectives, connecting to the community, and participating in meaningful activities and organizations.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work (and/or) previous experience in a similar role or environment.
Experience or training in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
Knowledge of issues affecting women and children.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create a safe and inclusive environment for diverse groups of women and children.
Empathy and compassion for those facing difficult situations.
A high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality
Proven leadership, coaching, and facilitation skills
Preferred:
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Pursuing or have received a Master’s in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or Applied Psychology
Experience working with nonprofits (with Thaddeus, a plus)
A solid understanding of and connection to Thaddeus’s mission, vision, values, and targeted demographic/community
An understanding of the transition to work, GAIN/TSE, and other similar programs
Time commitment:
5 hrs/week including mandatory meetings
1-year minimum
Must be available for the following VIRTUAL weekly meetings :
All staff meetings: Tuesdays 9 AM - 10 AM PST
Programs dept meetings: 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM PST (with an hour lunch between 12 PM - 1 PM)
