Do you love helping pets and people? The Maryland SPCA has a newvirtual volunteer opportunity for you !
We are re-creating our Wagging Tales Reading Hour virtually. Kids aged 5-10 will log on to their computers on Thursday afternoons to read to pets. This will give students the opportunity to connect with pets and practice their reading skills in a non-judgmental and positive space.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to help children foster love and compassion towards animals, help young readers flourish, and boost morale in our community.
Volunteers are needed Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:30pm beginning on October 1st for 10 weeks. You can volunteer for as few as one session or as many 10!
Volunteers need the following:
- Have a pet in your home (cats, dogs, rabbits, hedgehogs, parrokeets, etc! are welcome)
- Be able to log on to Zoom
- Have a pet who will stay in one room for a 15 minute time period with minimal movement (taking a nap or enjoying a snack is perfect!)
- Have a webcam which can be positioned on your pet(s)
If you are interested, your *next step* is to email volunteer@mdspca.org
