Purpose: The purpose of the Pantry Helper Volunteer is to assist our homeless drop-in center in sorting through the generous donations of clothing and food that come to our office.
Requirements:
- Background check not required
- Ability to lift 20 lbs. preferred
- Preference for working in collaborative environments
- Not afraid to ask for help
Position Description:
The pantry helper volunteer comes in on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to help sort through the donations we receive. LSS relies on pantry volunteers to maintain an organized and up-to-date pantry. This requires checking food items for date of expiration, ensuring items are unopened, sorting clothing so it is available for our clients, and regularly discarding items that we cannot use or have been damaged.
