St. Leonard's ministries seek a part-time Volunteer English Composition & Literature Instructor, to teach re-entry population adults in an alternative high school setting. Course content emphasizes high school-level reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. The course is designed to develop the writing and analytical skills necessary for the student's academic and professional success. Students write a variety of informal responses as well as formal expository, argumentative, and research papers. Candidates must have a heart for volunteerism, and helping those with the desire to change. Instructors maintain attendance and student performance records. Master's degree required; A minimum of a two-cohort contract is required; teaching certificates and experience preferred. Description
Believing individuals want to lead productive and whole lives, St. Leonard’s Ministries provides a setting in which men and women recently released from prison can achieve such a life. Residents are provided with an array of program services designed to assist them as they make the transition to successful, independent living. During their stay at St. Leonard’s House, Grace House and St. Andrew’s Court, residents are helped to reassess value systems, to reorder priorities and to develop socially and legally acceptable patterns of behavior.
