This commission will be guided and organized by Eyes Like Mine Inc members and volunteer/interns as an effort to develop a platform for residents with all disabilities starting in the largest city in NJ which is Newark. Individuals designated to this initiative will research and develop key people of influence to form the body of this commission. Research other county or state commission that may foster a similar scope, contribute to transcribing the narrative that will represent the agenda of this commission, and communicate with the municipal council and mayor’s office to present updates and activities. office on the status on the commission. Mission Statement
The mission of Eyes Like Mine is to promote healthy eye care, advocate for the rights of visually impaired or blind individuals enduring previous or current vision loss. We are motivated to empower visually impaired students via sponsorship of scholarships. Eyes Like Mine serves as a resource organization which will support entities supplying awareness to vision loss, vision restoration, and participation in current events happening for individuals living with vision loss.
Description
Eyes Like Mine has a vision to support the empowerment of blind and visually impaired individuals with resources for sustainable daily living in areas of education, employment, and advocacy. We will host and fundraising events promoting healthy eye care. We are in support of organizations/companies that practice research for vision loss prevention. Eyes Like Mine promotes breaking down the societal barriers placed against individuals who are previously or currently experiencing vision loss with awareness events that provide individuals with the tools necessary to live independent, encouraging and productive lives. Our ultimate goal is to link organizations and companies in supportof blindness prevention with strategies to achieve a collective result for individuals who are visually impaired to live, learn, and work in equal opportunities.
