Volunteers of Be the Star You Are!®
Volunteers of all ages participate in fairs and festivals to increase literacy and positive message programming.

If you enjoy writing and have opinions of value you would like to express, submitting occasional short articles for our newsletter may benefit you.

We especially welcome articles from teens, families, and women.

This is an excellent way to build your published writing portfolio.

Once you are a registered volunteer and have made the donation requirement, you will receive an email that provides you with the theme for the next newsletter and the timeline for submission.

GUIDELINES

Articles must be uplifting, positive, and empowering. We may have a theme that we ask you to expand upon.

Articles must have a title, your name, and be between 150-300 words.

No defamation of any kind will be accepted.

You get a one or two-sentence by-line of 25 words or less, and may add your website and photo of yourself if you wish.

You retain the right to publish your article elsewhere but give us the right to publish it in our newsletter and on our website.

No minimum or maximum number of articles is required. We retain the right to edit for punctuation, length, and sentence structure.

Not all submissions will be accepted and there is no guarantee of publication.

When you submit your questionnaire to us, we will ask for a short sample of your writing. If accepted, we will invite you to join our newsletter writing team.

The newsletter and your article is also published in our blogs, on our website, and in social media posts.

Once accepted for publication, you will receive 2 hours of community service.

The mission of Be the Star You Are! a non-profit corporation is to improve literacy, increase positive media messages, and provide tools for daily living by empowering women, families, and youth. We grow people!

Description

Be the Star You Are!(r), a 501 (c)(3) collects, commissions, and distributes empowering books, audio, video, art, and music. Recipients include youth and teen groups, women, shelters and support groups, seniors, job re-entry, treatment and recovery programs. The world is bombarded daily with negative messages. Believing that information infused with inspiration has the power to transform and change lives, Be the Star You Are! is a positive message media library offering choices and hope. Be the Star You Are! also broadcasts two radio programs, StarStyle-Be the Star You Are!, a lifestyle show Wednesdays, 4-5pm PT and Express Yourself!, a young adult program where teens talk and the world listens, Sundays, 3 PM PT, both on on Voice America Network/Empowerment Channel. http://www.BetheStarYouAreRadio.com.

Be the Star You Are!(r) makes a difference in communities by offering positive "edutainment", education combined with entertainment.

Please note that we will send every potential volunteer a questionnaire which must be completed before any position can be assigned. Minors under the age of 18 must have parental permission.

We are seeking only enthusiastic, responsible volunteers. If your only interest is getting community service, we are not a match for you.
